femdems

FemDems is the women’s interest committee of College Democrats here on campus. We are a group dedicated to feminist issues, including reproductive justice, principles of intersectionality, and political advocacy. In the past, we have had a number of events: panels on non-western feminism, discussions with abortion providers, on-campus educational initiatives, and election work for candidates that uplift feminist ideals.

justdems

JustDems is the social justice issue committee of College Democrats at the University of Michigan. Because so many issues fall under the umbrella of social justice we have done projects dealing with many important issues. This semester we have worked with the Climate Action Movement on campus to show how pressing the issue of climate change is on our campus. Last semester we put together a voting guide and did an educational campaign in relation the three ballot proposals in the November elections.

stonewall dems

Stonewall Democrats is the LGBTQ+ issue committee within College Democrats dedicated to furthering the interests of the queer and trans community at a local, state, and federal level. This last election, we created a queer voting guide to inform voters about the candidates who support pro-LGBTQ+ policies and issues.

thoughtfun

ThoughtFun is the Communications and Finance subcommittee of College Democrats, lead by the Communications Director and the Treasurer. The Communications side works on developing social media campaigns, filming videos, and learning about Communications strategy for political campaigns. The Finance side plans numerous fundraisers throughout the year and helps members learn about elements of campaign finance, from donor research to call time.

reshall

ResHall is a committee of College Democrats that meets weekly on Thursdays in the Private Dining Room in South Quad at 7pm. ResHall provides a space for newer members to eat dinner with fellow members before the weekly meeting. ResHall works to build connections between new members and older members of the organization. ResHall also provides periodic activities such as going to Pinball Petes or getting ice cream that help provide a sense of community.
